Pipeline Coverage

The ratio of sales pipeline to quota — typically expressed as 3x or 4x — used to assess whether enough deals exist to hit targets.

Pipeline coverage is the ratio of total pipeline value to the revenue target for a period. A 3x coverage ratio means you have three times as much pipeline as you need to hit quota, accounting for expected close rates. PMMs influence pipeline coverage through demand generation campaigns, content that generates inbound interest, and enablement that improves close rates. Marketing-sourced pipeline and marketing-influenced pipeline are the two common metrics for tracking PMM's contribution.
